Feeding Program

By creating a central, stable location, Friends of Mexico has been blessed by being able to establish programs that reach the physical needs of the people and families of Galeana.
Throughout the school year, Friends of Mexico provides one meal per day, Monday through Friday, to children attending school in the villages. The children must be in school and attend church once a week in order to be in the program.
In September, when school begins, Friends of Mexico is able to purchase shoes, school supplies, and a school uniform for the upcoming year for the children.
During the Summer, our food program becomes a monthly program where we take baskets of food to the villages.

Taking care of the children of Mexico and encouraging them to attend school is the goal of this outreach program. We pray that by touching their lives with the Gospel and helping the people meet their needs, we will be able to show others the love of Christ.

Medical Ministry

Friends of Mexico has been blessed with the giving hearts of many Christian physicians. Groups of doctors, including the Christian Medical Society, have been coming to Galeana to share their services, time and especially their faith.

These groups come and stay in the Friends of Mexico facilities and set up clinic. Neglected health needs are met, and the children are able to see the love of Christ through these doctors.
When doctors cannot bring their own medicines, Friends of Mexico supplies the doctors with their needs.
Doctors also instruct people on healthy living, and how to manage their bodies by practicing good hygiene.
Through this program, we wish to make Galeana a healthier, cleaner community for the well being of the people.

Community Center

Friends of Mexico is very excited to see what God has in store for the future of the Mission. Since we have been reaching people here with the Gospel through various outreach programs, FOM has been praying and waiting for the next step.
Missionaries are currently helping with the construction of our new Community Center. Beginning in 1992, groups began to build the center that holds much excitement for the future of Friends of Mexico.
Already we have received donations of fifteen computers and three sewing machines. These donations will be used to teach a number of technical skills, helping the community become more self-sufficient.

The Community Center is coming to its final stages at a vital time in Galeana. The economy is bad and crops are poor due to weather conditions.
The Community Center will be the ideal place for people to learn new skills to provide income for their families. The Center will also be used to teach Christian views on health and parenting. Different classes will be held throughout the day for specific age groups. We will provide Christian education classes as well as discipleship training. Depending on the gifts received by FOM, we also plan to provide a meal once a week for the elderly.
The second story of the Community Center will serve as housing for volunteers and staff. We already have prospects of missionaries coming to stay and teach at the Center
.
The Community Center is looking forward to opening at the beginning of Winter 1999. No matter what the profession, there is a place for everyone to serve here in Galeana, and to use their gifts to serve the Lord.
